Swiss Care Givers

Hi all. Since we had such great care in Switzerland, we thought we would dedicate a short post to those individuals that made things so easy on us.

This is our doula - Christa Benz-Mueller. She was instrumental in helping us prepare for the birth, both mentally and physically. She was with Leah every second of the way in the hospital, even when I had to head away with Drake while Leah was being tended to. Was a very wise move to have someone like Christa with us when family was so far away.

This is the man himself! Dr. Nicklaus Lang. What a great doctor and a very nice man. It took Leah a bit to get used to the "European ways" (i.e. OK, take off your clothes and hop on the table - that was it - no gowns or anything!) but once she was used to it, it became second nature. Dr. Lang's office was right off of the Seestrasse and had floor to ceiling windows facing the lake - another thing to get used to - no shades! We are grateful for his services as he delivered our little Drake without a hitch.
One last person that deserves mention is our Mid-wife Francine Luchi. We honestly might have gone insane without her. She was with us almost every day in the first couple of weeks and she helped us get used to having little Drake at home. Again, with family so far away and this our first time, it was a must to have her. She also helped Leah "get things going" with the breast feeding. I think that she almost cried when the little dude got his first good latch. Again, we are very fortunate to have had her with us.
All in all, these individuals made things easier on us as first time parents and we are thoroughly grateful. We hope all is well with everyone. Love, Derek, Leah, and Drake.
