Well, it is official. As of January 14, Leah is now 30-something! What better way to celebrate than with some mussels, chocolate, and copious amounts of Belgian Beer!We headed off to Brussels on the 12th of January on the Eurostar for a quick visit. It was a mere two hour journey that dropped us relatively close to our hotel. The air literally smelled like waffles and chocolate in the areas around the Grand Place.
We spent the first day in a very informative tour that took us around the entire city and pointed out the key things to get back and see. Some items of interest were, the Manneken-Pis, the Atomium, and the Grand Place. Part of the city hall on the Grand Place dates back to the 12th century!
The food was wonderful. We ate a huge pot of mussels and washed them down with frites and raspberry beer. For a
snack we grabbed a Belgium waffle from a small shop that made them fresh for you and later had chocolate covered strawberry's directly from the chocolate fountain. For dinner we celebrated Leah's Birthday with some chateaubriand and a flaming dessert that required the restaurant to turn off the lights!It was truly a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend seeing it at some point. I would not think that it is a week's vacation but it could have definitely used more than the two days that we allotted.

I have a confession i totally am tearing up as i look at our last BDC pis and this. I love you both sooo much! I miss you guys and I hope to see you soon.... Have all the fun you can.... you two deserve it!!!! Leah, well i don't think i have to say it but miss you dearly already!!!!!!
