Buongiorno or Buona sera! Our first stop was in
beautiful Positano. This was the view out of our hotel window.
It was above 90 degrees the whole time we were in Italy and
I was in heaven!
We immediately went to the beach to relax and catch some rays! Here is Derek very happy to be on holiday and having some
Italian wine! We ate at this beach side restaurant the first night.
On our second day we we to a private beach only accessible
by boat. The beautiful church in the background is Collegiata
di Santa Maria Assunta which was founded in the 13th
century.
So, here is the private beach with a great restaurant
as well, called Da Adolfo.
Here I am out on the rocks. We had to be in the water most
of the day because it was so hot!
Here is the view from Da Adolfo. I swear everywhere I
looked I had to take a picture! Besides the glorious location (on
the beach!) this restaurant had some of the best seafood
I have ever had!
We thought we would relax and take in the beauty
from our hotel's terrace with some Prosecco before dinner.
Our second dinner was at a fabulous place called Donna Rosa.
The restaurant had an open kitchen and you could watch the two
owners hand prepare your meal. Our homemade pasta was the
absolute best we have ever had! And of course we had to top off
the meal with some Limoncello!
On August 9, our anniversary, we hired a car and toured
the rest of the Amalfi Coast. Our first stop was the town of Praiano.
Next was the town of Amalfi which dates back to Roman
times and even to the Byzantine Empire. The town declared
its independence in A.D. 839 and was Italy's first maritime
republic, before Pisa or Venice.
This is the Duomo, which dates back to the 9th century
when Amalfi was gaining success. This Romanesque bell
tower was finished in 1276.
Our next stop was high up in the mountains at Ravello.
The town is surrounded by luscious fields, vineyards, and citrus
groves.
Ravello also overlooks the towns of Minori and Maiori.
Our last stop were the tiny towns of Minori and Maiori,
which are both on the Mediterranean and have gorgeous beaches.
This is looking back up towards Ravello.
Our last night and anniversary dinner was spent at La
Tagliata another family run restaurant up in the mountains.
This was just our antipasti or appetizer! There was
no menu - the chef picked for you. You would not
believe how much food we were served for our pasta and
secondi courses. We were also given dessert and two glasses
of limoncello. We could barely walk out!
So, due to the picturesque nature of this area I could
not begin to give you a taste it's beauty. I highly recommend
checking out the rest of our pictures from Positano and the Amalfi Coast
by clicking on the link below. Part II - Capri, will be coming shortly!

You lucky dogs. What a fabulous anniversary trip.
Your photos are quite wonderful.
I would love to hear what the Brits are saying about our elections.
