Part II - Capri
So this is what we saw as we sailed in to Capri. The color
of the water and sky was separated by huge white cliffs.
And as we soon learned the correct pronunciation of this fabulous
island is Capry with the accent on the first syllable.
This a picture of a typical taxi on the island. All
of them have no roofs with canvas covers! How fun!
Capri city and the marina from high up on the mountain.
We stayed in the more low key city (the only other one
on the island) Anacapri. This was taken by ourselves on our
private terrace. We are getting good at this photography thing!
The first thing we did was hire a private boat and
took a tour of the whole island. It was so relaxing and
beautiful. Our boat had an American flag, so keeping with
the theme Derek bought Budweiser to keep him cool.
I can't be any happier - a boat, the sea and the sun!!!
This is one of the private beaches on Capri.
Our guide took us around to all kinds of caves
and rock formations.
We are about to sail through the famous Faraglioni, a
collection of spiky, rocky, structures that jut out of the sea
a short distance from shore.
Just after going through.
Now a picture of all of them. These grace most of Capri's
picturesque views.
And here is my new yacht! Just kidding - I wish!
I was blown away by the number of huge yachts that
were privately owned. One had a helicopter, a speed
boat, and a sailboat all aboard! (You know in case one gets bored)
I tried to see if our guide knew who owned these. He didn't know.
Another view of Capri city from the sea. Unfortunately,
we couldn't go into the Blue Grotto. The tide was too high.
But we did get to see the White Grotto, the Coral Grotto and we
swam through the Green Grotto.
called Capri's that our friends Paul and Kristin highly
recommended - thanks guys!
This is the Church of Santa Sofia which was erected in
1510. It lies in the center of Anacapri.
Another view of beautiful Capri as we are leaving.
