May 2011

Hello to all of our family and friends! My apologies
for the 6 month break. Yikes! Where has 6 months
gone? Well, we have been busy busy and I hope
to catch you all up as quick as possible. So here goes...

Drake had quite the tough end of April and May. He had two
urinary tract infections that were very concerning for
a male under 12 months. They knocked him out for a good 10 days each.
Here he is on one of those days with a super high fever. We spent a lot of time at home
in bed and had 3 trips to the Kinderspital (Children's hospital) in Zurich.
In the end nothing was found to be wrong it was just a fluke. Fingers crossed
it does not happen again. I had no idea that UTI's were so horrible for an infant!

Easter weekend was the beginning of the illness filled month. We
had to cancel our trip to France, so our Easter was very, very
low key and we did not do anything. Drake had his chocolate bunny
(that he could not even eat) but he will not remember, right!

In May I decided to throw a Royal Wedding Party.
I did a traditional English tea and had friends over to watch
and celebrate the royal nuptials. It was fun!

Drake and one of his lady friends at the royal wedding party.
Drake loved his walker so much - he would stay in it for hours!

We are lucky enough to live by multiple vineyards in the Zurich
area. In May they all have sort of an open house event with tastings
and light snacks. We were able to walk around to the ones in our
neighborhood with our friends, Francesca and Phil. Drake loved it
and even took a 2.5 hour nap in his stroller so the adults could enjoy!

Family shot at one of the vineyards. So beautiful!!!

Drake is a huge fan of his Gymboree classes. Especially
the end with the bubbles.

My first Mother's Day was the beginning of the next
UTI for Drake. Poor baby. We stayed home in bed all day.

Bath time is still one of Drake's favorite times.

In May at 10-11 months he was really trying to walk.
Here he is pushing his toy with one hand!

Hi there!

We went to Drake's friend Max's house. These two
have been buddies since they were born. They are
so cute together.

I started running again when Drake was 10 months
old. This is what he thinks of mom's running! Good thing
because he will be spending lots of hours in his running stroller
as I train for a half marathon in September.

Here we are getting ready for our big trip to the US!
We left at the end of May were home with all
of our friends and family for one month. Woo hoo!
Drake was a great helper while daddy was packing. We
kept explaining to Drake that he did not have to go in the
suitcase - we bought you a seat! J/K. Hee hee.
